SchoolNet Africa (SNA) was established in 2002 as an independent, pan-African non-government organization that
operates in over 33 countries through local partners from the government, civil society and private sector. SchoolNet
Africa stands for the right of every African child to have access to information and knowledge and to be a global citizen.
SchoolNet Africa was established as a partnership initiative between the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa
(UNECA), the Open Society Institute for Southern Africa (OSISA) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
SNA is an African learning network set up to support national schoolnets to enhance learning and teaching through
the use of Information and communication technologies (ICTs).
Vision: To empower the African child to be an active global participant through the effective use of ICTs.
Mission: To support national schoolnets by mobilizing resources through effective partnerships and to promote
sustainable use of ICTs by African learners and educators.
