SchoolNet Africa launches the Arabic version of Mtandao Afrika, named: Josoor Arabia

In its aim to expand vertically and horizontally and meet the needs and expectations of youth, SchoolNet Africa announces the launch of the Arabic version of the program (Josoor-Arabia) in order to promote the promotion of Arabic web sites on the Internet by the youth.

The program has been launched by the Egyptian Minister of Education in March 2007 as a regional initiative for the Arab region. Josoor-Arabia is first of its kind, regional ICT based educational program, aiming at the introduction of ICT as a tool for learning and collaboration among youth in the Arab region. Josoor Arabia that targets the youth in the age of 12-17 to work together in teams and develop educational web sites in a regional annual competition.

The program is based on the creation of teams of learners and teachers from different countries in the region to develop educational web sites in Arabic. The teams will select a topic of interest within the framework of the general topics announced each year. It is a program that empowers Arab Youth through building their technical capacities and skills to become active contributors and members of the knowledge base society.

The program is a pilot implementation and shall be implemented through the concerned ministries of education in the Arab countries, targeting 5 countries in the first year to be extended later.
